Out of the corner of her eye, Aliana saw Dawn step to Arthur’s side as Wade made a move to grab her but missed.

“Why are you even upset that we are here? Surely plenty of people use this gate into Atlantis.”

“D, what are you doing?” Aliana stood tense as she started to gather her magic to open the portal, throwing up veils as she slowly corralled together the power they needed. The freckled girl didn’t answer; her focus on the Ruby Dragon. Strangely, the Dragon seemed fascinated by her boldness.

A thoughtful rumble came from the red beast. “Indeed, many do, but they have manners enough to offer up payment first.” His feline style nose twitched, his white eyes illuminating a little brighter. “Hmm, a Halfling. How interesting you are, little Nymph.”

Wade and Owen took cautious steps closer, their movements slow. If the Dragon did notice anything but Dawn, he didn’t let on.

Aliana prayed her friend knew what she was doing.

Dawn kept her hands at her side, palms out. “You have to believe us. We didn’t know you were here. And if you hadn’t just dropped out of the air like a deflating Zeppelin, we wouldn’t have felt the need to defend ourselves.”

Growling laughter shocked all of them. “What is your name, little Nymph? I find you most amusing.”

Dawn went pale, looking to Arthur briefly before responding. The golden king nodded once. “My name’s Dawn.”

Aliana glanced at Galahad, her stomach twisting and flipping. This situation could go south at any second. She pulled on the elemental magic faster, cool sweat dotting the back of her neck.

“It would appear we all have made misjudgments today, DragonLord,” Arthur said casually moving closer to Dawn. Even with Excalibur lowered, Aliana knew he could go battle ready in a split second. “What price would you ask for allowing us to use this gate?”

Ever so slowly, like a floating kite, the Ruby Dragon slithered closer to them, his eyes still fixed on Dawn. “That depends. I am sure the former king of Camelot, and descendant of the Golden Dragon can afford quite a price.”

“If I still had the resources I had in Camelot, yes.” Arthur shrugged one shoulder. “If you demand your payment now, I am afraid we do not have much to offer. But, should you wait until we defeat the wizard Mordrid, you will be richly rewarded.”

“I have it,” Aliana said to Dagg. “What now? Do we wait to see what happens?”

“Yes,” came his immediate response. “Avoiding offending a Ruby Dragon is always the smartest—and safest—option, whenever possible.”

Aliana licked her lips, feeling the uncomfortable pressure of holding so much power for so long. Fortunately, her veils seemed to be in place still, but she wasn’t sure how much longer they could stall this Dragon.

“You make a fair offer, young king.” The Dragon’s large head tilted slightly, his eyes narrowing just a fraction. “But I am afraid credit is a human notion. I demand my payment now, and your halfling, this “Dawn,” is the payment I will take.”

“Like hell you will! I’m a person not a possession!”

There it is! I hope you’re ready to dive back in to the Legendary Universe to find out who will sit on Camelot’s throne: King Arthur or Mordrid.

Aversion to Social Media?

So this post will be greatly off topic from the A KING WILL RISE posts I’ve been doing, but I was just thinking about this while sitting at Earl of Sandwich having lunch before what I am sure will turn into a shopping trip I’ll regret.

I realize how much, until recently, I had been absent from social media and that I liked it! Almost to the point that I feel like I kinda wanted to destroy all social media and enjoy not feeling like I HAD to post about every stupid little thing I do during the day.

I fully admit I post plenty about my little #SirTigra but it’s not nearly as much as I would have if I still lived in DC. I realize now, a LOT of my social media posts came while I was bored at work and not feeling it. Or I was posting about the desserts my team was doing, which I am still very proud of!

Little known fact, to those not in “The Mouse’s” employ: we are not allowed to take pics back stage and we have to be very careful about what we post because of how easily things go cra-cra on social media. Plus everything you post, no matter the settings, is up for public consumption and dissection. I know people all over who have lost their jobs because of stupid things they posted.

I think a small part of me fears social media (how much it’s taken over EVERYTHING and how it can so easily be used to hurt or destroy something or someone). Another part of me respects it because of just how much it rules…everything and the good that can be accomplished with it (thought those stories are very few and far between). The last part of me things we should mandate a certain hours of the day (when we are not asleep) that we HAVE to be off line and actually interact with people, in person, face to face.

What a concept…..

I know, totally weird rent, but I was just think about it, and yes I realize the funniness of me posting about not loving social media on social media LOL

I just wish that all of us, including me, can find the right balance and realize that just because something is on the internet or social media doesn’t mean it’s right or true.

A case of the Mondays please save me!

It’s a scientific fact that 80% or so of the world think Monday’s are the pits! (For me the actual day of Monday is normally my Wednesday, but I know exactly what everyone feels!)

I’m hoping this little bit of King Arthur goodness AND a very special giveaway will help make this Monday a little less sucky 🙂

My Dragon senses are spiking out of control. I’ve never felt its call this strongly before. Not even in Camelot. I wish Mother were here to guide me. Even Delphina has been of little aid. I wonder if it’s reacting to something I have yet to realize. The only thing harder than controlling my Dragon is governing my desires for Aliana. They grow stronger and stronger, almost unnaturally so. But my own struggles aren’t what is important right now. Activating the map, finding and retrieving the Grail, freeing my loyal knights, and finally ending Mordrid is. ~Arthur

Since this a shortie but goodie, and it’s Monday, I’ve got a few more goodies for you!

I just got several print ARC’s of A KING WILL RISE and guess what, I’ve got 2 to give away!! Go to the end of this post for the rafflecopter entry 🙂

But wait, there’s more still! That’s right it’s the official artwork of A KING WILL RISE!

If you want to see more of the LEGENDARY SAGA art just click over to the Legendary Art Page and you’ll see it all 🙂 Including old teaser pics from the other books in the series!

Time for more teasers

Another week and we are even closer to the release of A KING WILL RISE! I’ve got another new teaser for you all and this one is a doozie. I won’t give up who is saying what and who is causing all kinds of heartache. For that you’ll have to read A KING WILL RISE when it comes out later this month 🙂

akwr-teaser-broken-heart

Voices jarred her from the blackness that had held her tight—for how long, she didn’t know.

“Aliana?”

Quick bursts of tingling pain assailed her face. Bubbles of pink filled her vision, bursting against her like tiny spits of fire. A moan reverberated all around her as she fought to escape the darkness.

“Look! Her eyes are opening!”

There were faces in front of her, but they were blurred, half hidden in a strange orange glow of color that felt like an attack on her senses.

“Why isn’t Dawn waking?” A different voice demanded, sounding on the borderline between frantic and desperate.

Why was that name so familiar to her? Why did both names seem like something she should know? She tried to move her hand, but it wouldn’t budge. She turned her head from the orange rays that were becoming a pounding sensation on her temples.

“Aliana, look at me.”

Silver sparks flooded her like a rushing river soothing away the pounding ache and helping her vision go from a blurry construct to clear images and faces. The man touching her so gently was the most gorgeous man she could ever remember seeing. His blue eyes were dark, turbulent like a raging storm, marred only by the worry that painted his face. His whiskered jaw was a contrast against his pale skin, compounded by the longer dark brown waves of hair that went past his ears and touched his neck.

Who was this Aliana he spoke of? Who was this man holding her?

“Merlin, what’s wrong with them? What did that blasted magic do to them?”

Her eyes shifted towards the outraged voice, finding the second most handsome man she’d ever seen. His own lighter brown hair was shorter than the other man’s sweeping forward to hang over his forehead. Like the other man his skin was pale, his jaw sharp and angled, but his nose looked a little crooked, like he’d been hurt and it wasn’t properly tended to. Strength radiated from him, leaving his golden brown eyes almost aglow like liquid gold.

“I don’t know, Arthur. Imps are crafty but also secretive. Not much is known about their magic even among the Druids. If Puck was here, he might be able to tell us, but we have no way of reaching him!”

Aliana closed her eyes again, trying desperately to figure out who these men were, what they were talking about, but mostly, who this Aliana person was.

“Give her space.”

Aliana looked to the older, wiser voice, her eyes shooting open wide as a silver-marble colored Dragon came into focus. Her body reacted, propelling her to a sitting position as she fought to scramble away from the little monster.

“Calm down, Aliana!” Strong arms circled her, caught her wrists, pinning them to her chest with one large hand as silver sparks flooded her again, fighting to calm her fright. “It’s just Lord Daggerhorne, your Dagg.”

She looked up at the man holding her then back to the Dragon that was supposedly hers. Sucking in shallow breaths, she looked around the people gathered around them. They were all somehow familiar, like she should know them, but nothing came to her. It was like her mind was an endless black void. A void slowly and curiously being filled with silver sparks.

“Who are you all? Who is this Aliana you keep calling to?”
